Description

cet ouvrage propose la première traduction anglaise d'une sélection de dialogues retranscrits d'après le documentaire "Comizi d’Amore" [Love Meetings], filmé par Pier Paolo Pasolini en 1963.

This book presents the first ever translation, from Italian to English, of a selection of transcribed dialogues from the documentary Comizi d’Amore [Love Meetings], filmed by the Italian director, poet, and intellectual Pier Paolo Pasolini in 1963. The footage for this film was produced during Pasolini’s travels throughout Italy, from North to South, from beaches to cities to rural villages. He interviewed passersby, farm and factory workers, football players, students, people of different ages, social classes and cultural backgrounds, asking them questions about their sexual behaviors, attitudes, and beliefs. His main questions were directed at the importance of sex and love in daily life, homosexuality, sexual and gender equality, marriage, divorce, pornography and prostitution. Pasolini’s approach to interviewing is direct yet quiet and intimate, rather than aggressive or provocative, revealing Pasolini as a compelling interlocutor able to “engage Italy as a collective subject with great ease.”
